Design for the Shooting Sports and Outdoor Marketplace

The Sportsman’s Cabinet is the enterprise of Chris Mathan, a seasoned designer with 28 years of professional experience. An award-winning graphic and website designer and marketing specialist, she has worked on Madison Avenue and in London for some of the world’s most prestigious design firms including Chermayeff & Geismar, Knoll International, Calori & Vanden-Eynden and Peter Saville Associates. Based in Maine for the past 17 years, she collaborates with a nationwide network of top copywriters, photographers, illustrators and new media specialists. She is a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts.

Chris is an avid upland bird hunter, trains and field trials pointers, and is co-founder/co-editor of the not-for-profit online field trial publication “Strideaway”. She is a member of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the Ruffed Grouse Society, the Midcoast Maine Field Trial Club in Prospect, Maine and the Black Ash Grouse Dog Club in western Pennsylvania.

While pursuing her Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and Parsons School of Design in NYC, Chris also studied fine art and studio photography. With a resurgence of that interest combined with a love of the outdoors, she offers her photographic expertise to many of The Sportsman’s Cabinet’s projects. Please visit to view her Photo Galleries of field trial bird dogs, field trials and upland bird hunting, flora and fauna and perennial flowers. Signed, archival photo prints of dogs and bird dog training/field trial locations throughout the US and Canada are available for purchase. Please visit Fine Art Photo Prints for photo selections, details and prices. More images will be available soon.
